The
1st Message from our New President:
11/24/06
Well I have learned my lesson: never suggest to Patty Shafer that you can
help out and then show up late to the year end party, because you might get
elected president. So the lesson here is always be on time or early to tri
club parties.
For those of you guys that have never met me here's the short story. I have
been married almost 20 years to Candi. We have three girls, Carrie is a
senior at Rochester, Madeline is in second and Hailey is in first.
I have been doing tri's for about 9 years, mainly sprints and a few 1/4's. I
am a middle to back of the pack racer, so that's the short version.
Since being elected I have had a chance to run some ideas by a few people
and they told me to pursue to them so I am throwing them out to you guys and
see what you think.
I was at the Running Center the other night and we talked about doing a
night down there where team members could come in and get fitted for the
right kind of running shoe. Some of you may have already done this but for
new members and or people you are trying to get involved I thought this
would be a good meeting. We could also have some of you experienced runners
talk about how to train and get ready for longer races.
I also thought about doing a taping session at the pool. Eisenhower has the
window below the water line where we could do some taping of your stroke and
let you take it home to compare against some of the talented swimmers we
have in the area and use that as a learning tool.
Steve also put this link
http://www.gmap-pedometer.com on the site. It is a good way to map out
routes. I would love to see some people load up their favorite run and ride
routes then forward the links to Steve. I can only go out and back on the
Rochester trail so many times before I am looking for some other routes.
Here is one of my routes out in Rochester
http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=558003 .
I have also had suggestions for some laid back parties. Let me know if you
would be interested in doing some of this stuff and I will work with the
other officers get some it organized.
That's it for now and I look forward to hearing from you and what you would
like to see us do next year.
Charles
